The 28-year-old saxophonist was responsible for \"The Passion Theme\" from the Body of Evidence soundtrack and played the sax solo on Big Mountain's \"Baby, I Love Your Way\" from the Reality Bites soundtrack. Even on his own new album, Truth, Hill sounds as if he's providing background music for an absent foreground. His instrumental tunes are expert at setting the mood, but then you keep waiting for something to happen. If you like easy-listening background music, though, you could do worse than Hill, who coaxes a thick, lustrous tone from his alto and soprano saxophones and who has a knack for simple, catchy melodies. Truth is Hill's first album since moving from L.A. to Nashville, and it features such top Music City session players as guitarist Dann Huff and keyboardists Matt Rollings and Robbie Buchanan. Nonetheless, even songs written about that transition (\"Goodbye L.A.\") and his new wife (\"Tamara\") are so bland that they could have been recorded anywhere by anyone.
