The new CD is titled "Eclectric," and introduces the group's new sound using electric instruments. Well known for their outstanding performances of classical music, the quartet wanted to explore expanding their sound by adding amplification. The new CD features thirteen selections: Viva La Vida, Yellow, Oblivion, Yesterday, Clocks, All You Need Is Love, Eleanor Rigby, In My Place, Bittersweet Symphony, Besame Mucho, Libertango, La Muerte Del Angel, and Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This). Ion Zanca founded The Dallas String Quartet in 2007, and the group has performed at top social events such as The Arts Ball, and the Crystal Charity Ball for the last three years. Members of the quartet have appeared with Amy Grant, Josh Groban, and the Transiberian Orchestra. The group is also currently participating in a documentary, "Eco-Harmony" produced by Twist & Shout Communications of London for Alcatel-Lucent, Paris, to correlate the way individual musicians must perform together to the way individual businesses must work together to make a difference in the environment. "The idea of adding electric instruments to our sound seemed a natural way to express ourselves more fully through our music," said Ion. "The result is a combination of classical and modern. That's why we called it 'Eclectric.' It's an eclectic, electrifying mix of musical styles."

I enjoy listening to classical music but it has all been done and eventually it starts to sound the same... Then I heard the Dallas String Quartet and it blew me away! I also heard them on ESPN radio and their composition of the 'Bron Bron song'. They do so much with those few instruments. They're AMAZING! This cd has a little of everything. I just can't stop listening to it!!! --iTunes
Dallas String Quartet has delighted music aficionados for a while now, their live performances have always carried and delivered the real emotion the maestros had in mind when writing music. They carry on the tradition with Eclectric their latest album and it does not disappoint. Coming from an eastern background where a single song last for over an hour bridging the gap between the music and soul/emotion conveyed, I am always looking for similar acts. DSQ have established themselves as such artists. While their songs don't last as long, they have the unique talent of bringing the emotions out of the notes and put them front and center for the audience to enjoy. Crisp delivery, refreshing songs and absolute command of the art. This is a must have album --amazon.com
