THE GOSPELS INTERWOVEN--"It may well become a classic"--Evangelist Billy Graham
This two-part, Bible study reference book (415 pp.) is unique in many ways. Its first part is a single-narrative harmony--in contrast to the well-known parallel-column harmony--of all four gospels of the New Testament (NT) in the words of the New International Version of the Bible (pp. 43-258).
All details about Jesus' life in this harmony are chronologically-arranged according to a sophisticated table that the author comprised of the 13 leading, gospel harmonists of the NT from 1665 to 1980.
This harmony has 25, professionally-made maps of Jesus' jouneys while he conducted his intinerant ministry of 2-3 years. Many maps have been made of the missionary journeys of the apostle Paul, but not of the journeys of Jesus. This has been possible only due to the book's chronological table.
The book's second part consists of 130 harmonizing difficulties the author has identified in the harmony text. They are arranged in question form and keyed to the harmony text as footnotes. These questions are then discussed in the book's part two (pp. 261-404), where answers are provided mostly by appealing to leading NT scholars.
Many of these questions are about Jesus' resurrection. For instance, "Did the women leave for the tomb during darkness or after sunrise?" Some questions have two parts. For example, "How many women visited Jesus empty tomb on Easter morning? Why does each evangelist report a different number of women who visited the tomb?" The next questioning is, "Did the risen Jesus appear to the other women on their way to tell the apostles of the empty tomb or afterwards? What was the order of events on that Easter Sunday?"
In sum, The Gospels Interwoven is for Bible students, teachers, pastors, or anyone wanting a more complete knowledge of the most famous man who has ever lived--Jesus the Nazarene., ISBN13: 9780896933019 ISBN10: 0896933016 Material Type: hardcover
