Robert Moir and Dr. Mary Strum - Executive Producers and the parents behind "Time to Sing!" The songs on this recording have all been newly arranged. The words are much slower than the originals, but the music is fun, exciting, playful, and beautiful. In fact, most kids won't even notice that the words are slower. The speed of each song was set by the eminent speech-language pathologist, David Hammer, who also edited some of the lyrics to eliminate difficult sound combinations and enable all children to sing along. The songs were all brilliantly arranged by composer Michael Moricz, former Music Director of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, and are fun and rewarding for kids and their parents, too! They cover a wide variety of styles and settings, featuring thirteen singers, musicians for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Benedum Orchestra, and fifteen young children. We hope your children enjoy these fresh new looks at classic songs, now that they have time...to sing!
David Hammer, Speech-Language Pathologist for "Time To Sing!": During my twenty-plus years as a pediatric speech-language pathologist, I have used music as a therapy "tool" to facilitate speech and language expansion. My frustration has always been that previously recorded songs for children are sung at a rate of speed that is often to fast for our many young children who are still learning to speak. Therefore, the speed of the words on this recording is intended to enable all children to sing along, regardless of their level of speech development. We hope that you find "Time To Sing!" to be enjoyable, entertaining, and excitingly useful.

"My name is Karen and I live in Oklahoma City, OK. We purchased your CD a month or so ago and I just wanted to say thank you for a great product! My daughter, Nicole, loves the 'Time to Sing!' CD. She has dippraxia and has really picked up on the tunes and words of the songs. She really moves to the music and goes around the house singing 'won't my mommy' which is something we had never sung to her before! Thanks for making a difference in our world!" "Since 1965 Shady Lane School has provided quality early education to a diverse population of families and children of all abilities. Our classroom programing is based on the arts; visual, movement, singing, and music making, to support and enhance children's learning. Many of our classrooms have been using 'Time To Sing' for the last 3 years as part of their daily programming. Children as they sing together are developing social skills, self-esteem, and pleasure from music and language. 'Time To Sing' is a favorite CD that is enjoyed by all children, educators and families. Kids just keep asking for it to be played!" Howard, Pittsburgh, PA --www.time2sing.org
"My name is Anne and my daughter Ellen loves the Center for Creative Play. We love 'Time to Sing'. One of the first signs that Ellen ever used was to tell us she loved music. She loved it, but couldn't sing-along because of her Speech Apraxia. Now that we have 'Time to Sing', she is singing, truly singing along with the CD. It makes all of us so happy."
